Dear Society Members and Friends;
This year the Northampton Area Historical Society will have a new display at the Siegfried Railroad Station Museum. We will focus on 1942, the first full year the United States was involved in World War II.
In our last newsletter, we noted that two scrapbooks had been donated or loaned to us containing newspaper clippings of military personnel from our Northampton Area. We have received two additional scrapbooks from the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4714. We have identified hundreds who served from Northampton and our neighboring communities, but we
hope to identify many more, with your help.
Please visit the Siegfried Station on any of the following dates and times:
July 16th, 10:00 AM-4:00 PM and July 17th, Noon- 4:00PM
August 21st, September 18th, and October 16th, from 1:00-4:00PM
Please save the Date of Sunday, November 13th. On that day we plan to recognize everyone who is listed in our scrapbooks and celebrate their sacrifice and victory in a special ceremony to be held at 2:00 PM in the Northampton Area High School Auditorium. We will be sharing a free
band concert to remember the music of their era.
Please be sure to visit the station this year. If you cannot come at our scheduled times, we can make other arrangements. Call me at 610-262-8198 or Larry Oberly at 610-570-5083.
Irene Urban, President
Northampton Area Historical Society
We will be open this year for our monthly Sundays at the Station. The station will be open the 3rd Sunday of every month from May through October, from 1 to 4 pm. Plus a special opening on Saturday July 16 as part of the Lehigh Valley Passport to History Month event.
Group tours are available by appointment year-round, call 610-262-8198 or 610-570-5083.
Who We Are
The Northampton Area Historical Society was founded in 1977 by a group of Northampton residents interested in preserving the history of Northampton Borough. The Northampton Area Historical Society since its inception has been responsible for the restoration and maintenance of the historical Siegfried Station. The Society also operates a museum at the site containing documents and artifacts which highlight the history of Northampton Borough. The museum is open the third Sunday of every month through the spring, summer and fall.
We are now accepting membership applications and renewals for 2022.

We have received more artifacts as people cleaned out their attics during the pandemic time. We hope you will visit us to see some of this newly re-discovered history.
We are grateful for the many donations we received in the last year. Here is just a sample!
